Gorgeous 6 cup Sadler Teapot: Brown Betty in Rockingham glaze. 
In the early 1800s, all levels of society in Great Britain were drinking tea. The upper class, of course, used very elegant porcelain teapots, handpainted, many with gold gilt. For the working class, it was the good old Sadler Brown Betty. The round body of this workhorse teapot allowed the leaves to move about while steeping, pretty much guaranteeing a better, smoother cup of tea.
About Sadler: Sadler and Sons Ltd was founded in 1882. They specialized in making the popular Brown Betty teapots, although did produce some gorgeous fine china teapots as well. As the millenium loomed, so did financial issues for the longtime company. By 1999, some of the production was being outsourced to China. In spring 2000, the doors at Sadler closed as the company went into receivership.
